As the publisher says, ”You already know Office 2003 basics. Now you’d like to go beyond, with shortcuts, tricks, and tips that let you work smarter and faster. And because you learn more easily when someone shows you how, this is the book for you. Inside, you’ll find clear, illustrated instructions for 125 tasks that reveal cool secrets, teach timesaving tricks, and explain great tips guaranteed to make you more productive with Office 2003.” I found this "Visual Learning System" quite easy to follow and comprehend.
The organization of the book, written by Sherry Willard Kinkoph, is very straightforward with each chapter dedicated to a single section of the Office suite. Be sure to check out the “How to use this book” page just prior to the Table of Contents for an explanation of the graphics used throughout the book. The illustrations are very clear and concise and make it very easy to follow the procedures. I feel this is THE strong point of this book as one is able to quickly scan the table of contents for an interesting tip and instead of reading a lengthy explanation that you may or may not be able to comprehend, you simply follow the numbered illustrations to the desired result.
I picked this book at the November meeting because I just knew I would be one of the lucky door prize winners…but alas, this review was done without the benefit of Office 2003. With that in mind, I did find several tips and tricks that worked in Office 2000, which I do use, albeit infrequently, and would definitely consider this author's other publications for purchase. Now, if only I could justify that new Office 2003 program to my Significant Other…..
You can purchase this book direct from Wiley for $19.99 or better yet, use Alamo PC’s bookstore link (hint, hint) to Amazon.com for $13.99!! I was not able to locate this book in any of the local bookstores nor in the Schertz Library but that may be due to the fact that it was just published in October 2003.
