From the October, 2003 issue of PC Alamode Magazine

Zagat Survey 2002 is a neat little program for your Palm. It is a restaurant guide. It gives a complete look at thousands of restaurants both here and internationally. The reviews included a rating on a scale of 0 to 30 on the food, décor and service. It lists the average price of dinner with drink and tip. Prices range from seven dollars to the mid sixties. The addresses and phone numbers for each location was also given. With a tap of the screen you can enter your reservation information into your date book. A short review about the food and type of cuisine was another good feature. It gives you almost all the information you could possibly want like open Sunday, outdoor dining, family dining, cigar friendly, catering, takeout and more. The one thing it doesn't tell you is their hours and days they are open. This is a very easy program to install and use even for someone with limited experience.

The minimum requirements are:
Handheld:
Palm OS 2.0 or later Palm Professional or later. Palm Personal NOT supported 73K storage space on your handheld for the Zagat application An additional 23K to 315K storage space per installed survey

Desktop Computer:
Win 95, 98, ME, 2000 or XP and HotSync Manager 2.1 or later. Or Apple Mac System 7.5.3 or later and Palm Desktop Software 2.0 or later.

After you install it on your computer, simply synchronize it with your Palm. At that time you can choose which major cities you are interested in. Each city you load on your Palm takes 500 to 700 KB. You don't need to load all of the cities until you are going to use them. Some of the international cities are Budapest, Dublin, Geneva, London, Madrid, Paris, Tokyo, Venice and more. Some of the closer to home cities are Dallas, Ft. Worth, Houston and most of the major cities in the United States. I was disappointed that San Antonio, Texas was not on this program. Free updates are available at Zagat's Website. I can see how this program would be useful to someone who travels a lot.

This program can be downloaded from the Landware, Inc. web site for an introductory price of $24.95 (regularly $29). Or download a free trial for 14 days. They also offer another version for Pocket PCs. If you need any technical support their number is (201)-261-7944 (Mon-Fri, 9am-6pm, EST) or go to Their Help page.
