Travel
can be a boring experience and some diversions are available for those
lucky enough to have a notebook PC to occupy their time. Some games and
puzzles use a lot of memory and require sound to enjoy them and they can
also become boring as time goes by.
Victorian Mansion, a product of WREBBIT, is an electronic three-D jigsaw puzzle that can take a lot of boredom out of your life. Not only is it an enjoyable game but — just to keep it even more interesting — it includes a murder mystery to solve. You can select from four levels — the introductory one is really essential so that you can get used to thinking in the three dimensions and also manipulating the pieces. The other three are in increasing levels of difficulty and with different rewards. The idea is simple in concept but can be difficult in execution so if you don’t like jigsaw puzzles you might want to pass on this one. Ah, but if you do like the puzzles, you will really enjoy this game. You build the Victorian mansion from the ground up and you can store various assembled groups of pieces in drawers to avoid cluttering up the screen. Once you have all the major subassemblies completed, you hook everything together and you have finished the mansion. This allows you a key to enter the mansion and to wander through the rooms gathering clues to the murder. When you do the most difficult level you are rewarded by being able to go anywhere in the mansion you want and that allows you to gather the final clues you need to solve the problem. Of course, if you identify the wrong suspect as the killer — you get zapped and all the clues scatter so you have to gather them again. There are some mini-games scattered throughout the house as well. I
liked the Chopin score best.
This is both and easy and a complex game. The tutorial helps and I strongly recommend that you use it a time or two since constructing a 3-D picture on a 2-D monitor can be interesting. The program sells for $24.95 and I sure do suggest that you’ll enjoy it. I found it to be difficult but my wife enjoyed it as did a couple of others that tried it out. Give it a shot, I think you’ll enjoy it greatly.
