My
number one complaint with Windows programs has been that the majority of
them did not include an uninstaller. Did the programmers feel that we would
never want to remove their work?
The programs installed parts themselves and there associated files all
over your drive making the process of uninstalling a real challenge if
done manually. Some programmers were thoughtful enough to include an uninstaller,
but not too many. There was a whole new field open to programmers who could
figure out where all these parts were installed and how to remove them
safely. You have probably heard of Uninstaller, Remove It and Clean Sweep,
all made removing a program less stressful. With the advent of Windows
95 a program that wants to be Windows 95 compliant has to remove itself,
boy what a relief!
Do you still need a program like Clean Sweep? The answer is Yes. You
probably have Windows 3.1 programs on your system that you may want to
remove. Clean Sweep does a lot more than just uninstalling, it “Cleans”
up your computer. There are many functions of Clean Sweep you will find
useful. Here is a list of the functions that are available.
Uninstall
Archive
Backup
Move
Transport
Duplicate File Finder
Redundant DLL Finder
Unused File Type Finder
Low File Usage Finder
Orphan Finder
Registry Sweep
Update-It
Recommendation:
Clean Sweep is a very useful utility. I have found many duplicate files
on my drive, and I’m sure you will too. I have found it to work very hard
at “Cleaning Up” my drive. I recommend Clean Sweep, though not prefect,
a very good drive maintenance tool.
