Popular Mechanics' Car Guide, 1996
by Dan Johnston

My Computer is a 486 - 100 and 4X CD. The disk loaded fast and ran without problems.

The program contains data and information on a large number of new and used cars. It is very easy to use.

Its search feature permits you to search for specific new cars and gives the typical sticker price as well as the invoice price. This would be helpful in purchasing a new car. You can add or substract options with the price automatically adjusting. I tested it for my recently purchased Ford Contour and the sticker price with the options I have was within $5 of my cost.

I was a little disappointed that my second car was not listed, but the Plymouth Colt Vista is not common.

The used car search did not strike me as being too useful, even though it contained a large number of cars.

The "street" price of the software is under $10. A card is included which permits you to buy an updated CD-ROM for $5.95, which contains the latest information, photos and videos.

I recommend the product to anyone in the market for a new car. It is a small investment.
