Juno,
a free Internet e-mail program, is scheduled for release in April. If you
are running any flavor of Windows and have a modem, Juno is for you. The
program provides everything you need for e-mail, which is the main current
use of the Internet. There is a local access number.
It won't be long before an e-mail address is as important as a telephone or residence is for transmitted communications. Juno's advantage as a complete, permanent free e-mail address is impressive. No fees, no hassles. Internet service providers come and go, prices change and users move accounts. Now you won't have to notify the world of a change of address.
Many have waited to acquire an Internet account either due to the cost, not seeing the advantages, allure or often just because they're intimidated by the complexity of the setup.
How do you get Juno? You can get the software by calling Juno at 800-654-JUNO (5866). Or, if you have an e-mail account elsewhere, you can e-mail them to request it at signup@juno.com, or download it from their Web site at http://www.juno.com.
If it isn't released by the time you read this, call anyway, and they will ut you on the distribution list to receive the software when it is available.
What's the catch? Advertisers will pay for the service, just like
they do for TV and radio. You'll see ads in the corner of your screen with
each message, but they are not bothersome and they don't interfere with
the messageses themselves. Great trade-off. Great concept.
