The
Guinness Encyclopedia comes with two CD ROMs; one is the main Encyclopedia
and the other is about NASA. Installing is fast and easy, just D:\INSTALL.
This only installs what is necessary to run the CDs. After that, just select
one of four options at the main interface.
The EXPLORER consists of four options: Encyclopedia outline, Subject finder, Image finder, or Search encyclopedia.
The MULTIMEDIA GALLERY has three selections: Photographs, Illustrations, Languages. Movies, and Animations.
The Encyclopedia consists of twelve Section Choices. Each time you select any item it narrows the choice down, which makes it easy to find what you are seeking. An outline appears on the top left corner. A tool bar appears on the bottom with many choices like the Back up and Forward Arrows, Main, Encyclopedia, Multimedia, Explorer,Quit and Help. Just a mouse click away on any of these and you are in a different section. There are more photos, images, audios, movies etc. than I care to count. Also there is the foreign language section, fifteen common selected phrases said in over thirty selected languages. You do the selections to match what you want to hear. This is very entertaining for everyone to hear in all those languages.
The second CD has the countries of the world in alphabetical order listing all 192 of the world's sovereign states. It includes the flag and map of each country along with data such as population, religion, government and history. Each map seems real clear and it doesn't take long to find any country. I searched for Bosnia. which only took a few seconds. It showed a map with cities and shows they have thirteen miles of coast. The history was very interesting also.
The NASA section is very interesting along with the 49 NASA photos in PICT,TIFF, and BMP Format. The NASA videos in Quick Qime were very good, even if some were a little dark. I can say that this encyclopedia was very easy to install and use. It came with a very small users manual (six very small pages) I really do like a program that is easy to use without reading a long user's guide.
