What is a Smart Phone?
They are handheld devices that are either voice or data centric and are able to exchange personal information and/or e-mail with your company server, desktop, or laptop computers. The idea is simple; a Smart Phone will solve the problem of having to carry multiple devices with you. With a Smart Phone you dont have the problem of carrying your phone, your PDA, or even a pager. With this convergence you will now have the added features of real-time e-mail and web surfing with you at all times.
Smart Phone usually contain one of the following operating systems, Palm OS, Microsoft Pocket PC Phone Edition 2002, Microsoft Windows Mobile, Microsoft Windows Smartphone, or the Symbian platform. These devices normally include the ability to download data to local storage, run applications, and store user data beyond your personal information capabilities.
This article will be concentrating on three of the most feature rich and popular Smart Phones on the market. Two will be based on a Microsoft OS and one on the popular Palm OS.
Microsofts Smart Phones
Microsoft has two classifications of devices that you and I would consider Smart Phones. These devices are categorized by the operating system that is used in the device.
The first is the Windows Mobile Smart Phone OS. This is used in the devices that resemble a more traditional form factors for phone.

The second offering from Microsoft I want to make you aware of is the SPH-i700; its a Windows powered Pocket PC. The best way to describe this device is a Pocket PC with a built-in phone. The emphasis is on the Pocket PC side first, then the phone features.
